FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles Move Up, Now 3rd In Africa

The Nigeria national team moved up from 48th position to 44th spot in the latest FIFA world ranking published yesterday on the FIFA’s official website.

The October ranking saw the Super Eagles garnered 1431 points as against 1415 it had in September.

The  review was in line with performance as at point, the three-time African champions defeated Libya 4-0 in Uyo and claimed a 3-2 away victory in the reverse fixture of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, is now placed the third best team in Africa behind Tunisia and Senegal.

Tunisia is ranked 22nd best team in the world and Africa’s number 1, they are followed by Senegal, Congo DR (ranked 46th, Morocco (47th) are the other African countries among the top 50.

Nigeria 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group E contenders, South Africa unmoved in 73 while Libya and Seychelles are placed 105th and 188th respectively.

2018 FIFA World Cup third-place winners Belgium dethroned France to the summit as the Belgians have 1733 points against France’s 1732 points, however in September, the two countries were tied on the first spot.

Brazil are seated in third, while World Cup finalist Croatia in 4th the only other change in the top 10 sees Uruguay (5th, down one place) slip below England, (6th spot).
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be released November 29, 2018.
