Real Madrid boss, Julen Lopetegui has picked between goalkeepers, Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas for the UEFA Super Cup showdown with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening.
Lopetegui has a goalkeeping dilemma on his hands after signing Courtois from Chelsea earlier this month.
Courtois returned to La Liga to be closer to his two children, who have been living in Madrid ever since he left Atletico Madrid back in 2014.
Many Real Madrid fans, however, fear for Navas’ future at the club.
Navas has been at the Bernabeu ever since his signing from Levante four years ago, helping Los Blancos win the Champions League three times on the trot in the time since.
Real face Courtois’ old club, Atletico in the UEFA Super Cup this evening.
And Spanish newspaper, Marca reports that despite the much-anticipated arrival 26-year-old, Navas will start against Atletico.
It is claimed that Lopetegui will not throw Courtois into the contest because he did not play a single minute of pre-season.
Marca claimed that Lopetegui also feels Navas, for the time being, is more-suited to the club’s system.
