Your Lies Against Buhari Cannot Diminish His Popularity – Communications Minister, Adebayo Shittu Tells PDP

Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu has declared that condemnation and criticisms from those in opposition parties against President Muhammadu Buhari cannot diminish the President’s popularity among Nigerians.

Shittu noted that lies against the President, mostly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not affect the popularity of the President because the people of the country were not fools or ingrates.

He stated these while speaking with journalists on Monday during the 50th birthday ceremony of a PDP stalwart in Oyo State, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

At the event were Former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; former Minister for Education, Professor Tunde Adeniran; former Minister for Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan and former First Lady in the state, Alhaja Mutiat Olayinka Ladoja among others.

Shittu while speaking said those who drove Nigeria into a mess through corruption and mismanagement during the sixteen years of PDP’s misrule were the ones now accusing President Buhari of non performance.

He, however, told PDP leaders that Nigerians were not fools and ingrates not to appreciate the achievements of the President in the areas of the fight against corruption and insurgency, as well as in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, education and employment.

Shittu disclosed that at appropriate time, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will come out to showcase the achievements of the president for Nigerians to compare with those of PDP that ruled the country for sixteen years.

His words: “Nigerians voted for President Buhari because he was the only presidential candidate that could be trusted. The president is running a government devoid of greed and corruption.

“Although, the work ahead is enormous, I am happy that a lot of positive changes have occurred in the areas of agriculture, education, infrastructure and employment”.
